Nottingham Forest are preparing a £45m bid for Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall, following the rejection of their initial £38m offer last week. Sources indicate the 20-year-old Swedish international is keen on a transfer to the City Ground, as he seeks more regular playing time after being used sparingly and out of position under Spurs manager Roberto de Zerbi last season.
New Forest manager Oliver Glasner addressed the team’s transfer strategy during his introductory press conference. While he did not mention Bergvall by name, he emphasized his eagerness to integrate new signings quickly, noting that some targets are currently on vacation following their World Cup participation. Glasner expects new arrivals to join the team for their pre-season training camp in Portugal.
Bergvall, who moved to Tottenham from Djurgarden in 2024, signed a contract extension through 2031 in April 2025. Despite an ankle injury that sidelined him for two months, he featured in 33 matches last season and earned recognition as the club’s player of the year following their Europa League triumph. The midfielder has also earned 14 caps for Sweden and represented his country at the World Cup.
Forest are actively looking to strengthen their midfield following Elliot Anderson’s departure to Manchester City. However, the club is prioritizing high-quality additions over the volume of signings seen in previous transfer windows. Beyond the midfield, the club is also seeking reinforcements at goalkeeper and striker to provide depth for Matz Sels, John Victor, Chris Wood, and Igor Jesus.
