Soldiers from the Joint Task Force North-West, known as Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have initiated an extensive campaign against four prominent terrorist commanders: Dogo Gide, Najaja, Nasanda, and Buba Oris. This effort occurred through synchronized air and land movements in Zamfara State.
Zagazola Makama, an expert on counter-insurgency, reported that the mission followed reliable intelligence regarding a large assembly of armed militants near the Bayarzaki Riverline in the Anka region. The group reportedly intended to stage attacks across Zamfara and nearby districts before the military intervened.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA employed aerial strikes on terrorist positions at Barayan Zaki. Simultaneously, the 8 Division Strike Force established ambushes to capture escaping militants. The force of the attack compelled the fighters to retreat toward the Gummi–Anka supply route.
Following a intense skirmish at Kombo High Ground, troops gained the upper hand, resulting in numerous militant casualties and forcing the remainder to scatter into the woods. One soldier was wounded and moved to a medical facility in Anka for care. In subsequent clearing activities, personnel seized several machine-gun rounds and continued patrolling the area. Military officials confirmed that this strategy aims to dismantle insurgent networks and curtail their operational freedom in the North-West.
