President Tinubu Names Wasiu Olanrewaju-Smart Special Adviser for House of Representatives

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Dr. Wasiu Olanrewaju-Smart as the new Special Adviser on National Assembly Matters for the House of Representatives, replacing Ibrahim Olanrewaju.

President Bola Tinubu has selected Dr. Wasiu Olanrewaju-Smart to serve as his Special Adviser on National Assembly Matters for the House of Representatives. Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, announced the appointment on Sunday.

Olanrewaju-Smart fills the vacancy left by Ibrahim Olanrewaju, who stepped down to pursue political office in his home state. Recognized as a skilled academic and public policy specialist, the new appointee brings extensive legislative experience to the role. His background includes serving as a Research and Media Assistant during the 7th and 8th Assemblies, as well as holding positions as Special Adviser, Deputy Chief of Staff, and eventually Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the House during the 9th and 10th Assemblies.

Since October 2023, he has functioned as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Intergovernmental Affairs. Throughout his career, he contributed to major legislative efforts, including the Interest-Free Student Loan Act. President Tinubu expects that Olanrewaju-Smart will leverage his expertise to foster stronger collaboration between the executive branch, government agencies, and the House of Representatives. The appointment is effective immediately.
