Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, believes a presidential partnership between Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party would be the most viable option for the 2027 election. During a recent interview with Symfoni TV, Lawal argued that while both men would likely fail if they ran independently, joining forces would create a powerful coalition.
Lawal estimated that an Obi-Kwankwaso ticket would hold a 70 percent probability of defeating their political opponents. In contrast, he gave President Bola Tinubu a 50 percent chance of success. Lawal was notably dismissive of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, asserting that he would face certain defeat in the next cycle, adding that he hopes for such an outcome.
