NDC Welcomes APC Defectors to Kano fold via Kwankwaso

Rabi’u Kwankwaso welcomed new members from the APC into the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Kano, shortly after the release of his credentials for the 2027 election.

Rabi’u Kwankwaso, the vice presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), officially welcomed a group of defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) into his party and the Kwankwasiyya Movement on Sunday.

Among those joining the movement was Danlami Zakari Unguwar Gertai, also known as Garkuwan Gari, of Gari Local Government Area in Kano State, who arrived with a cohort of supporters. The Kwankwasiyya Movement announced the news via social media, noting that the group met with Kwankwaso at his residence on Miller Road, Kano. The new members expressed their dedication to the organization and its goals for the country.

This political shift occurred just one day after the Independent National Electoral Commission released the personal documents of Kwankwaso and his running mate, Peter Obi, for the upcoming 2027 general election. Both figures previously vied for the presidency in 2023 under different banners before moving to the APC and subsequently switching to the NDC due to ongoing legal disputes and internal friction.
