Actor Jason Alexander has publicly apologized to reality television star Courtney Stodden regarding an offensive comedy sketch they filmed in 2012. At the time of the recording, Stodden was 17 years old.
The sketch, produced by Funny or Die, parodied daytime talk shows. It featured Alexander rubbing his phone on Stodden’s chest, making lewd remarks about signal strength, and suggesting he would take her behind a couch when she turned 18. Stodden, who was a writer on the project, later highlighted how she felt isolated and exploited as the only minor on set.
Reflecting on the incident, Stodden questioned how adults could have deemed such behavior appropriate. Following her public statement, Alexander expressed deep regret, admitting the content was inappropriate and offering an apology for any distress caused. While Stodden acknowledged the apology, she noted that he had not reached out privately. She encouraged him to demonstrate his sincerity by supporting legislative efforts to ban child marriage in California, an issue she is currently advocating for following her own experiences with marriage as a minor.
