Following his recent stint as the kicking coach for Wales during their summer Nations Championship matches, the 37-year-old will now focus on his duties at Arms Park. After concluding his playing career as a player-coach at the end of the 2025-26 season, Halfpenny is set to serve as a skills coach for both the senior squad and academy prospects.
Reflecting on his new appointment, Halfpenny noted his excitement to return to the club environment, expressing a desire to support the development of younger players and contribute to the existing squad. Cardiff head coach Corniel van Zyl praised the move, highlighting Halfpenny’s impressive career—which includes 101 Wales caps and 801 international points—as a vital resource for the team. Van Zyl emphasized that Halfpenny’s professionalism has already yielded tangible improvements in the team’s kicking performance, and he expects the former star to be instrumental in training both senior kickers and scrum-halves while fostering his own growth as a coach.
