President Bola Tinubu has selected Ayo Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, to serve as the chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) board. This move is part of a broader shake-up involving 26 new appointments across 10 different federal agencies and commissions.
Official confirmation came from presidential aide Bayo Onanuga in Abuja, stating that all placements are effective immediately. Alongside Fayose, Major General Junaid Bindawa was named chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission. Joining Fayose at the REA are Ahmadu Abubakar and Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who will serve as board members.
The administrative changes include several other key roles. Tosin Johnson Adeyanju has transitioned to the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission as secretary. Meanwhile, Dr. Abuh Mohammed was appointed Director-General of the National Population Commission, and Dr. Akinola Odeyemi will lead the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading entity as Managing Director.
The President also appointed Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin to head the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, while Engineer Julius Oloro has been tapped to lead the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation. Additionally, the Fiscal Responsibility Commission has a new board led by Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu. Other notable shifts include Shuni Muhammad Dahiru taking over the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, and Gisaor Vincent Iorja replacing Mathias Byuan at the Federal Housing Authority.
