Akpabio Jokes with Oshiomhole Regarding Controversial Private Jet Footage

Senate President Godswill Akpabio jokingly referenced a viral video involving Senator Adams Oshiomhole during a plenary session, noting that lawmakers initially suspected the footage was AI-generated.

During a Senate plenary session on Thursday, Senate President Godswill Akpabio brought a lighthearted mood to the proceedings by referencing a widely circulated video featuring Senator Adams Oshiomhole. The footage, which surfaced in February 2026, appeared to capture a man resembling the Edo North senator inside a private jet with a woman resting her legs on him.

Akpabio remarked that the Senate initially treated the clip as an artificial intelligence fabrication. He recalled a conversation with Senator Simon Lalong, noting that they chose to disregard the video at the time due to suspicions of digital manipulation. Addressing Oshiomhole directly, Akpabio joked that if there were further credible, non-AI evidence, the Senate would be willing to review a formal petition on the matter.

The viral video sparked significant public debate and criticism across social media platforms. Shortly after the footage spread, Oshiomhole’s media aide, Oseni Momodu, dismissed the video as a fake production intended to damage the senator’s reputation. The legal and media team for Oshiomhole subsequently condemned the dissemination of the clip and signaled that they are working to track down those responsible for its creation.
