Law enforcement officials from the Federal Capital Territory have apprehended a kidnapping suspect hiding in Niger State following an abduction at Mpape’s Yellow House. FCT Police Commissioner Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi confirmed that the Anti-Kidnapping Unit caught Umaru Danda, a Zamfara State native, on July 10, 2026, in Gadabiu village.
Danda is accused of providing logistics and illicit substances, including tramadol and cannabis, to the criminal gang involved in the Mpape incident. During interrogation, he directed officers to three separate hideouts where authorities seized drugs, two bags, a digital scale, personal electronics, N250,000, and an AK-47 rifle. The suspect remains in custody pending legal proceedings.
In a separate operation, the FCT command successfully rescued a victim abducted in Karshi. After receiving reports of gunfire and a kidnapping on July 12, 2026, Commissioner Sanusi mobilized the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to search the Waru hills and surrounding border areas. By early morning on July 16, 2026, the team located and freed the hostage without ransom payment. She has since received medical care and returned home to her family.
