Two Arraigned In Ogun For Assaulting Town Planning Officers
The Ogun State government has arraigned Abdulazeez Anidugbe and Ibikunle Kazeem before a Magistrate Court in Abeokuta on charges of assault and obstructing public officers from performing their duties. The two individuals are accused of assaulting Town Planning Officers from the Zonal Authority, Rounda, Abeokuta, while they were on official duty.
Acting General Manager of the Authority, TPl. Itunu Jolaoluwa, condemned the incident, emphasizing that government officials should be allowed to perform their duties without harassment, abuse, or assault.
The statement noted that “The individuals assaulted the officers of the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA) by calling a mob to attack them for removing an illegal structure erected on the right-of-way
This follows a similar incident involving musician Portable, who had assaulted officers during their official duties, which also sparked widespread criticism over rising lawlessness and assaults on government officials. Portable and his gang members were arraigned in court but later released on bail.
Jolaoluwa reiterated that such actions violate the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Regulation, 2022, and urged the public to respect the work of government officials.
“Any complaints from the public can be forwarded to the office, instead of abusing or assaulting any staff,” she emphasised.
