Anxiety has enveloped the Gero community in Jos South, Plateau State, after unknown assailants murdered two women. The bodies were found early Monday near the local government secretariat, sparking immediate public anger.
Distraught residents, primarily women and youth, carried the remains of the victims to the secretariat to voice their grievances. The demonstrators blocked roads and demanded that the government implement more effective safety measures.
Mary Chollom, who joined the protest, decried the recurring violence that frequently targets vulnerable populations. She insisted that authorities must track down the perpetrators and provide better protection for citizens. While peace was eventually restored following a security deployment to the area, the state police command has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
