Security forces in Katsina State successfully interrupted a cattle rustling operation following a shootout with suspected bandits in Wakaji village, located in the Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area. The event was reported by security expert Bakatsine on Tuesday via social media.
The confrontation took place on Monday evening when armed individuals entered the village to seize livestock. Responding to the distress calls, personnel from the Dutsin-Ma Police Division arrived and engaged the attackers in a significant firefight. One suspect was struck by gunfire during the struggle, while the others retreated.
While the majority of the herd was scattered during the chaos, the assailants managed to depart with 10 head of cattle. One local resident sustained a shoulder injury during the incident and is currently stable after receiving emergency care at the Dutsin-Ma General Hospital. Bakatsine praised the police for their immediate deployment, noting that such efficient actions are vital for safeguarding rural populations from criminal activity.
