Vigilante fatally shot in latest Plateau community raid

A 43-year-old vigilante was killed by unidentified gunmen in the Wereng-Rim community of Plateau State on Tuesday night.

A 43-year-old vigilante named Mangai Musa lost his life following an assault in the Wereng-Rim area of Plateau State’s Riyom Local Government Area. Witnesses report that unidentified attackers arrived at the scene around 10 p.m. on Tuesday and began firing shots, resulting in Musa’s death before the perpetrators escaped.

Local resident Tok Abel stated that the incident caused widespread fear among community members. The Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM) verified the killing through a statement from their national publicity secretary, Rwang Tengwong. The group characterized this as part of a recurring pattern of violence against residents in the region, noting that authorities are still looking into the specifics of the event.

Attempts to reach the Plateau State Police Command spokesperson, SP Alfred Alabo, for a statement remained unsuccessful.
