University of Jos Community Shaken by Discovery of Decapitated Corpse

An unidentified man was found decapitated on farmland within the University of Jos campus, prompting security concerns among students and staff.

On Tuesday, the University of Jos community faced alarm after the decapitated remains of a man were found on farmland situated inside the campus. The identity of the victim remains unconfirmed, but the discovery of the headless body caused widespread concern among the student body and staff.

Pius Atok, a 300-level student, stated that the victim was not affiliated with the university as a student or employee. A senior official at the institution corroborated this, noting that the individual was likely a local farmer who frequently worked on that specific plot of land. Initial observations suggest a targeted attack, as the perpetrator fled with the victim’s head.

The university has contacted the victim’s family to coordinate the removal of the body. Management is currently preparing an official statement via the Information Directorate to address the situation. Efforts to obtain a response from Plateau State Police spokesperson SP Alfred Alabo regarding the investigation were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
