Rennie Expects A Stiff Challenge From Confident Ireland

New Zealand coach Dave Rennie warns his team to expect a tough battle against an Irish squad that firmly believes they can end the All Blacks’ 52-game unbeaten streak at Eden Park.

New Zealand head coach Dave Rennie has warned that his team recognizes the danger posed by Ireland ahead of their upcoming Nations Championship clash in Auckland. Both teams arrive at the Saturday match undefeated, with Ireland securing back-to-back bonus-point victories and the All Blacks coming off wins against France and Italy.

Rennie emphasized that the Irish squad carries a genuine belief in their capacity to secure a win at Eden Park, a venue where New Zealand has remained unbeaten for 52 consecutive Test matches. The coach praised the tactical preparation of Andy Farrell’s team, highlighting their skilled forward pack and cohesive defensive structure. He noted that breaking down such a disciplined opponent will require patience.

While New Zealand has held a long-standing record at Eden Park, dating back to a loss against France in 1994, Rennie insisted that historical statistics will not influence the outcome. He stressed the importance of focus and proper mindset, particularly against an Irish side that previously claimed a series victory on New Zealand soil.

Rennie also singled out scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Park as a vital component of Ireland’s success. He suggested that neutralizing Gibson-Park’s influence and disrupting the Irish rhythm will be a top priority for his players to prevent them from maintaining momentum on the front foot.
