Kidnapped Oyo School Principal Released Following Police Intervention

Mathew Owoade, a headmaster abducted in Oyo State, has been rescued by security forces after intensive operations forced his kidnappers to release him.

The Oyo State Police Command has officially announced that Mathew Owoade, a 60-year-old headmaster and farmer, has been freed from his captors. He was initially seized on Saturday evening while traveling on the Igbojaye–Budo Aare bush road located in the Itesiwaju Local Government Area.

Olayinka Ayanlade, spokesperson for the police, stated that the victim was released on Monday evening. This outcome resulted from a combined security operation that applied significant pressure on the kidnappers, eventually forcing them to abandon Mr. Owoade.

Following his release, the victim was transported to a medical facility for health assessments. Once he is recovered, officials plan to conduct a debriefing as part of their broader investigation to locate and charge those involved in the crime.

Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Abimbola expressed appreciation for the support provided by local residents and other security partners during the rescue mission. He reiterated the commitment of the command to protect citizens and ensure that criminals find no refuge within the state.
