Umahi Claims Tinubu’s Infrastructure Successes Unbeatable in 2027 Election

Senator David Umahi states that President Tinubu’s infrastructure projects, including the upcoming Calabar–Abuja Superhighway, will render opposition efforts ineffective in the 2027 presidential election.

Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, asserted that President Bola Tinubu faces no credible threat from opposition candidates in the 2027 presidential polls, citing the administration’s focus on infrastructure as a decisive factor. While reviewing work on the Calabar–Abuja Superhighway in Ebonyi State on Monday, Umahi highlighted that the project will significantly shrink travel time between Ebonyi and Abuja to just three hours.

This initiative is intended to link the South-South, South-East, and North-Central zones, fostering economic growth and simplifying transit. The superhighway is composed of two primary sections, covering over 290 kilometres and eventually connecting with major routes like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. Umahi praised the efficiency of InfoQuest Nigeria Limited, noting that construction is occurring across multiple fronts to fast-track the project.

Addressing the political climate, the minister dismissed opposition critiques, including those from Peter Obi, by pointing to the tangible benefits of current road projects. He defended the use of loans for such construction as essential investments for Nigeria’s economic future. Additionally, Umahi noted that the government has sanctioned repairs for the Edembe Road in Izzi and requested the Ebonyi State government’s assistance in clearing right-of-way obstacles to ensure steady progress on regional carriageways and flyovers.
