Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South, has formally requested that the Nigerian military and security forces continue their rescue efforts in his region. He specifically highlighted the need to liberate numerous individuals currently held by kidnappers.
During a discussion on Channels TV this past Friday, Ndume acknowledged the recent successful mission that freed abducted victims in Oyo State. While he noted a desire for more operational transparency, he recognized that some tactical details must remain classified. Currently, 42 residents from Mussa, 37 from Lassa, and several individuals from Moushi and the Buratai route remain in the hands of their captors.
The senator emphasized that the families, particularly those in Mussa, are suffering immensely due to the abduction of their young children and students who were preparing for NECO examinations. Despite these grave security concerns, Ndume maintains faith in the armed forces. He believes that with sufficient resources, equipment, and training, the military can restore peace.
He praised the security personnel for the recent operation in Oyo, which resulted in the neutralisation of eight kidnappers and the safe return of the children. He hopes the intelligence gained from the suspects captured during that mission will facilitate further successes. Ndume concluded by calling on the government to apply the same level of urgency and focus to the ongoing crises in Mussa, Lassa, Muoshi, and the Buratai axis.
