Soldiers from Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA successfully liberated four individuals held by militants after disrupting an assault in Surimi, a village situated on the boundary between Kebbi and Sokoto states. This mission took place on Friday, prompted by reliable information regarding armed fighters active in the Danko-Wasagu district of Kebbi State.
Military leadership confirmed that troops deployed rapidly to Surimi, where they entered a direct firefight with the hostiles. Utilizing superior force, the soldiers compelled the insurgents to release their hostages and retreat into the nearby wilderness. All four rescued persons have since returned to their families, and no injuries occurred among the responding military personnel. This action is part of the broader mandate of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to eliminate terrorism and banditry across North-West regions prone to violence.
