Will Jordan has officially become New Zealand’s top try-scorer after securing a hat-trick during the All Blacks’ commanding 47-17 victory over Italy in the Nations Championship. The 28-year-old athlete, who debuted for the national team in 2020, reached a career total of 50 tries in 56 Test matches, surpassing the previous record held by Doug Howlett.
Reflecting on the milestone at Wellington Regional Stadium, Jordan expressed gratitude for his journey, noting that he hopes his success inspires the next generation of players to pursue their own sporting ambitions. New Zealand dominated the scoreboard with seven tries in total, including contributions from Sam Darry, Cam Roigard, Ethan de Groot, and Tupou Vaa’i.
Italy faced significant challenges throughout the match, particularly after forward Niccolo Cannone was sent off in the 51st minute. Initially penalized with a yellow card for a headbutt on Roigard, officials reviewed the incident and upgraded the punishment to a red card. Despite early tries from Tommaso Menoncello and Leonardo Marin, Italy could not keep pace with the All Blacks’ offensive momentum, following their earlier loss to Japan.
