President Bola Tinubu has promised that his administration will pursue justice for the rescued pupils and teachers who were kidnapped from Oriire, Ogbomoso, in Oyo State. This commitment also extends to the family of Mr. Oyedokun, who was killed by the abductors during the incident.
The President spoke following the successful rescue of the victims by security services after they spent 56 days in captivity. He praised the military, the police, and the Department of State Services for their joint efforts, noting that the operation resulted in the neutralization of several kidnappers and the arrest of eight others.
Tinubu expressed his condolences to the affected families and the nation for the trauma caused by this ordeal. He highlighted that the rescue effort, which involved continuous work by intelligence agencies, ended the standoff without further loss of life among the hostages. He officially thanked the security personnel involved for their dedication.
Beyond the rescue, the President requested that the Oyo State government increase security measures around educational facilities. He also ordered national emergency agencies to work alongside state authorities to ensure the survivors receive immediate medical care and psychosocial support.
