Emergency Rule: Fubara Holds Meeting With Tinubu In The UK
President Bola Tinubu privately met with suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, in London.
According to The Africa Report, the meeting was held at Fubara’s request to explore ways of restoring peace in Rivers State.
This marks the first meeting between the two since Tinubu suspended Fubara and declared a state of emergency on March 18, appointing Navy Vice-Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas as sole administrator.
A Presidential aide confirmed the meeting, stating it was part of broader efforts to resolve the ongoing political crisis in the oil-rich state.
Notably absent from the meeting was Fubara’s estranged political godfather, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who was reportedly uneasy about being left out.
Tinubu is expected to hold further talks with Fubara, Wike, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to find a lasting resolution.
The new development follows an earlier meeting in London between Nyesom Wike and the lawmakers loyal to him in the Rivers State House of Assembly.
