Teenage soccer player recalls being injected with drugs at a Magaluf nightclub

An 18-year-old athlete from Scotland was injected with drugs while at a nightclub in Magaluf, leaving her with ongoing health issues and a vital message about safety.

Taylor Coulter, an 18-year-old athlete from Port Glasgow, faced a traumatic experience while visiting a nightclub in Magaluf. As she left the restrooms at the Bananas nightclub, she was bumped by a stranger and immediately felt a sharp sting in her arm, followed by a sensation of liquid spreading throughout her body. She had only seconds to reach her companions before the injected substances took full effect.

The teenager, who had been completely sober that evening, credits her friends with saving her life. They managed to transport her back to their accommodation and contacted both her parents and medical professionals for assistance. Hospital testing confirmed she had been injected with GHB and an anti-depressant. Due to the nature of the attack, she is currently undergoing a strict course of anti-viral medication to prevent potential bloodborne infections.

These medical treatments have left Coulter physically exhausted and unable to maintain her athletic training. This is a significant setback for the young football star, who is scheduled to move to the United States next month to begin a scholarship at Louisiana State University. Despite the physical challenges and the psychological toll the event has taken on her, she hopes to return to full fitness and pursue her dream of becoming a professional player.

Coulter is sharing her story as a cautionary tale for other young travelers. She stresses the importance of groups staying together at all times and remaining vigilant, as she was initially unaware that spiking could occur via injection. Her parents, Stuart and his wife, have expressed deep gratitude toward the group of friends who acted decisively to protect their daughter during the crisis.
