Bishop David Oyedepo, the leader of Living Faith Church Worldwide, has spoken out against the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Act (Amendment) Bill, 2026. This proposed legislation suggests a ₦50,000 penalty for religious preaching inside commercial vehicles. The Senate has clarified that this regulation was already included in the 2007 FRSC Act and is intended to promote transit safety rather than restrict religious practice.
During a sermon at the church’s headquarters in Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State, the bishop argued that the government should prioritize the nation’s security challenges over regulating transit preaching. He expressed frustration regarding the ongoing violence in Nigeria, stating he would not offer prayers for those responsible for such acts. He specifically declared that those who fund or support individuals causing harm will face divine judgment.
Oyedepo questioned why the government has not taken more decisive action or issued stronger statements against the persistent killings across the country. He noted that he had maintained a period of silence on these matters but now feels that accountability is approaching. He concluded by asserting that the current pattern of violence and the perceived indifference toward human life will eventually reach a breaking point.
