Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has commended the liberation of students and educators who were kidnapped in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on May 15. He labeled the rescue operation a significant achievement in the broader battle against criminal activity.
Through a statement released on Saturday by his media aide, Gboyega Akosile, the governor shared his satisfaction regarding the safe return of the captives after they spent over 55 days held against their will. He noted that this outcome demonstrates the dedication of President Bola Tinubu to protecting citizens and tackling national security threats.
Sanwo-Olu acknowledged the joint mission carried out by the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Police Force, and other security units. Their teamwork was instrumental in the success of the operation.
The governor offered his support to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the Ogbomoso community. He emphasized that the rescue restores hope for the victims’ families and boosts public trust in security efforts throughout the Southwest region and the nation at large.
Reflecting on the event, Sanwo-Olu stated that the rescue brings immense relief and highlights the current administration’s resolve to fight insecurity. He praised the bravery of the security personnel involved and shared in the joy of the Ogbomoso residents following the safe recovery of the individuals.
