Norway national football shirts sell out as World Cup quarter-final approaches

Norway’s national football kits are in short supply as fans scramble for jerseys before the team’s World Cup quarter-final match against England.

Official retailers across Europe have run out of Norway’s national football kits ahead of the upcoming World Cup quarter-final match against England. The Norwegian Football Association (NFF) admitted that it significantly underestimated the massive surge in demand for the team’s merchandise, which has been scarce since its March debut.

The intense popularity of players like Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, bolstered by Norway’s recent victory against Brazil, has driven interest to unprecedented levels. Commercial director Runar Pahr Andresen noted that sales have shattered previous records, with around 250,000 kits ordered this year compared to just 50,000 in the same timeframe previously. Shops in Oslo, such as Torshov Sport, have seen massive queues stretching hundreds of metres, with some supporters waiting 12 hours to secure a jersey.

While Nike has acknowledged fan frustration and is working to replenish stock, some supporters are turning to third-party marketplaces where prices for the shirts have soared significantly above the original £89.99 retail cost. The highly anticipated match between Norway and England is scheduled for Saturday at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.
