Two fatalities reported after truck and bus collision in Ogun State

A collision between a truck and a bus at Ogbere Junction in Ogun State has left two people dead, with officials citing speeding and route violations as the primary causes.

A severe road accident early Thursday morning at Ogbere Junction on the Ogbere–J4 route in Ogun State resulted in the deaths of two individuals. The incident involved a collision between a Mack truck and a commercial Peugeot J5 bus.

The Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reported that the crash took place around 5:10 a.m. The Mack truck, bearing the registration ABC660XC, hit the Peugeot bus, which lacked visible plates. Of the four men present, two died instantly, while two others survived without injuries.

Authorities identified speeding and driving on the wrong side of the road as the primary factors leading to the accident. The force of the impact caused the front of the bus to catch fire. FRSC rescue teams reached the site within two minutes to manage traffic and clear the obstruction. Officers from the Ogbere Division of the Nigeria Police evacuated the deceased to a mortuary.

Ogun State Sector Commander Oludare Ogunjobi extended his condolences to the bereaved families. He urged motorists to strictly follow traffic laws, warning specifically against speeding during times of limited visibility or when roads are slick. The FRSC continues to promote road safety through education and enforcement, encouraging drivers to prioritize vehicle maintenance and responsible driving.
