Paraguay manager Gustavo Alvaro has declared that he will not offer an apology to France head coach Didier Deschamps regarding claims of verbal abuse directed at the French bench during their recent Round of Sixteen fixture. Alvaro stated he heard no such comments during the match, maintaining that he cannot apologize for events he did not witness.
Didier Deschamps voiced his frustration during a post-match press conference, noting that he found the conduct from the Paraguay dugout during the game to be unacceptable. The match itself was highly contentious, defined by several disputed calls from Uzbek referee Ilgiz Tantashev. While Tantashev cautioned three French players, he did not issue any cards to Paraguay, despite aggressive tackles by Gustavo Valazquez and Matias Galarza on French stars Kylian Mbappe and Jules Kounde.
Addressing the controversy, Alvaro emphasized his stance against offensive behavior, noting that if he had personally heard such remarks, he would have intervened immediately. He highlighted his post-match exchange with Deschamps, where he offered his respects and wished the French squad success in the tournament.
