Military forces conducting nationwide security operations between June 30 and July 3, 2026, successfully rescued 10 kidnapped individuals, apprehended seven suspects, and killed one terrorist. Major General Michael Onoja, Director of Defence Media Operations, reported that the military also facilitated the surrender of seven terrorists and their family members while seizing weapons and supplies.
In the North-East, Operation Hadin Kai troops arrested three logistics suppliers in Borno State and repelled an attack in the Kurnari community, recovering explosives and communication gear. Multiple surrenders occurred in Monguno and Mobbar as militants fled harsh conditions. Meanwhile, Operation Fansan Yamma soldiers in the North-West rescued a woman held captive in Kaduna State after an ambush near the River Shuwaka.
Operations in the North-Central saw soldiers from Operation Whirl Stroke raid an arms hideout in Taraba State, securing an AK-47. In Nasarawa, Benue, and Kogi states, troops rescued nine kidnap victims, including an abducted soldier, following rapid responses to distress calls. In the Niger Delta, two individuals were detained in Edo State on suspicion of conducting surveillance for a kidnapping plot.
Security efforts in the South-East involved dismantling criminal cells linked to IPOB/ESN. A confrontation in Anambra resulted in one fatality among the gunmen. Additional raids in Abia, Imo, and Enugu states led to the seizure of various firearms, ammunition, and bomb-making materials, with one suspected armourer taken into custody.
General Olufemi Olatunbosun Oluyede, the Chief of Defence Staff, praised the soldiers for their dedication and professionalism. He stated that these results validate the current multi-theatre strategy and encouraged citizens to assist by sharing intelligence with security services.
