Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has spoken out against a violent assault by terrorists targeting the Saai community in the Katsina-Ala Local Government Area. A statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Tersoo Kula, confirmed that the Wednesday morning attack resulted in multiple fatalities and left others with injuries.
Kula noted that the assailants operated under the guise of herdsmen. Governor Alia characterized the event as a cruel and irrational strike against peace-abiding residents. He highlighted that the timing of the aggression is particularly damaging, as it coincides with a period when local farmers have returned to their ancestral fields to cultivate crops. By attacking now, the governor argued that these individuals are intentionally threatening the state’s food security and stability.
In response to the tragedy, the governor has mandated that security forces initiate an urgent search to track down those responsible. He emphasized that the perpetrators must be apprehended and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
