The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, recently apprehended 15 individuals accused of committing various crimes throughout the state. Among those detained are suspects linked to kidnapping, armed robbery, cattle rustling, and burglary.
State Commander Adetunji Adeleye presented the suspects in Akure on Tuesday. During the briefing, he noted that the force successfully rescued two farmers who had been abducted last week on the Ondo-Ife road. Regrettably, a third victim passed away while being held by the captors.
The rescue mission involved a coordinated effort between Amotekun, the Department of State Services, and the Nigeria Police. Commander Adeleye explained that the operation gained momentum following a direct order from Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. He noted that the captors attempted to evade detection using fake location data, but specialized intelligence-gathering tactics ultimately secured the victims’ freedom.
Furthermore, the agency targeted a ring involved in stealing cattle from Fulani herdsmen across several local government areas, including Odigbo and Ore. Authorities recovered stolen livestock and detained the individuals responsible for selling the animals. Additional arrests included suspects found with illegal firearms, a man accused of stripping electrical and plumbing materials from construction sites, and individuals involved in the theft of construction materials from a palace in Odigbo. A 25-year-old was also taken into custody for stealing and selling a motorcycle.
