Violent Ambush Leaves Two Motorcyclists Dead in Taraba

Two commercial motorcyclists were killed and another was critically injured in an ambush by unidentified attackers on the Donadda–Kunini road in Taraba state.

The Donadda community within the Lau local government area of Taraba state is grieving after two commercial motorcyclists were murdered and a third was left seriously wounded in an assault on the Donadda–Kunini road. The violence took place on Monday evening as the victims traveled toward Kunini.

Witnesses identified those killed as Umar from Yusa Fulani and Gyada, who was related to Ngida Adoshi of Donadda. Both men suffered fatal machete wounds at the scene, and their motorcycles were stolen by the attackers. A third individual, who resides in Kunini, remains hospitalized with severe injuries.

This event has renewed anxieties regarding safety on the Donadda–Kunini route, where past incidents have occurred. Locals noted that the road was previously the site of a fatal attack involving the family of Alhaji Usman Madu, the current Permanent Secretary to the Deputy Governor. Residents are now urging state authorities and law enforcement to launch an investigation, catch the criminals, and increase patrols to ensure public safety.

Victor Mshelizah, the Taraba state Police spokesperson, verified the reports and confirmed that the command is pursuing the suspects. He stated that the incident occurred near the border with Adamawa state and that police are working diligently to locate those responsible.
