Criminal gangs led by Ado Aleiro have designated a fresh field commander following the demise of Kachalla Iliya Mai Rasha. Security expert Zagazola Makama noted that this shift seeks to restructure the group after recent federal military campaigns across the North-West region. While the new leader’s name remains unconfirmed, gang representatives have demanded that villages in the western Tsafe Local Government Area pay a 200,000 Naira tax each.
This initiative aims to accumulate 25 million Naira for the procurement of fresh weaponry and ammunition. Recent military actions in Kizara village reportedly resulted in the burial of ten commanders and left several others wounded. Residents also noted that bandits are finding it harder to steal livestock within Zamfara, forcing them to venture deeper into remote territories.
While these reports await independent verification, officials are tracking the group’s leadership changes and financial demands to cripple their logistics. Ongoing efforts via Operation FANSAN YAMMA continue to apply significant pressure across Zamfara, Katsina, and Sokoto, effectively dismantling key criminal strongholds.
