The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee has removed former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam and five other senatorial aspirants from its final list submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Additionally, former House of Representatives member Gbenga Elegbeleye and 19 other successful primary contestants were excluded from the revised submission.
This update impacts candidates from Abia, Kogi, Taraba, Benue, Ebonyi, Ondo, Kaduna, Niger, and Kwara states. The adjustments were implemented following findings from the party’s Primary Election Appeal Committee, as confirmed in a letter signed by National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and National Secretary Ajibola Basiru.
While some were removed, prominent figures like Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello remain on the list. Governors AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Hope Uzodimma, Ahmadu Fintiri, and Inuwa Yahaya have also been cleared for their respective senatorial bids. In the House of Representatives, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu are confirmed as candidates.
APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka noted that the party addressed over 700 petitions from members. He emphasized that the primary focus is ensuring all approved candidates correctly upload their personal details and nomination forms to the INEC portal before the official July 10 deadline.
