Senate President Godswill Akpabio has served notice that he may initiate legal proceedings against the firm responsible for renovating the National Assembly complex. This move follows persistent technical malfunctions with the microphone systems in both legislative chambers.
During Wednesday’s plenary session, several senators struggled to participate in debates due to these ongoing equipment failures. Akpabio voiced his severe displeasure, characterizing the recurring glitches as a disgrace to both the legislative branch and the nation as a whole.
The Senate President noted that he and the Speaker of the House faced a similar, embarrassing situation during the National Assembly Week opening. Because the same company managed the renovation work for both the House and the Senate, Akpabio warned that he would hold them accountable. He urged his colleagues to document these frequent technical lapses to support potential legal measures, asserting that the government is entitled to a properly functioning facility.
