Ekiti 2026: Governor Oyebanji Secures Victory at Fayose’s Polling Unit

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the APC achieved a decisive victory at former Governor Ayodele Fayose’s polling unit in Afao-Ekiti, securing 448 out of 493 valid votes.

Incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji, representing the All Progressives Congress, has secured a significant win at the polling station of former Governor Ayodele Fayose. In the latest governorship election, Oyebanji obtained 448 votes at Polling Unit 001, situated at St. David’s Primary School in Afao-Ekiti, within the Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area.

Out of 493 total valid votes cast, the APC candidate surpassed his competitors by a wide margin. Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress received 37 votes, while Wole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party finished with four votes. INEC records show that 538 voters were accredited from a total registration of 931, with seven ballots ultimately rejected.

This outcome holds weight because Afao-Ekiti is the home base of Fayose, a prominent figure in the state’s political landscape. Election officials and representatives from participating parties have signed the official Form EC8A as the broader collation process proceeds across Ekiti State.
