Wakefield Edge Past Huddersfield in Dramatic Fashion

Josh Rourke’s last-minute interception try handed Wakefield Trinity a dramatic victory over the Huddersfield Giants in a fluctuating Super League contest.

Wakefield Trinity secured a hard-fought victory against the Huddersfield Giants, driven by a decisive late interception from Josh Rourke. The match was defined by constant momentum shifts, ending with the Giants suffering their ninth consecutive defeat.

Trinity established an early 10-0 advantage through scores from Tom Johnstone and Mike McMeeken, though Huddersfield responded via Jacob Gagai and Cole Geyer. Jack Sinfield added a try to give Wakefield a half-time lead, but Asher O’Donnell put the visitors ahead shortly after the interval. While Max Jowitt tied the score with a penalty, Rourke reclaimed the lead for Trinity in the corner, only to be matched again by an Adam Swift score. In the final minute, Olly Russell struck a drop-goal to level the game, but his subsequent pass was intercepted by Rourke, who ran in for the game-winning try.
