Mohamed Chibi Taunts Senegal Following World Cup Elimination

Moroccan footballer Mohamed Chibi publicly mocked Senegal after their exit from the 2026 World Cup, reigniting tensions from a previous controversial final.

Moroccan player Mohamed Chibi took to Instagram to ridicule Senegal after their departure from the 2026 World Cup. The West African team suffered a 3-2 defeat against Belgium in extra-time during their Round of 32 clash this Wednesday, despite holding a two-goal advantage earlier in the game.

Chibi, who was left off Morocco’s tournament roster by manager Mohamed Ouahbi, shared a video clip of the match result paired with the taunt, “go and cry now.” This hostility appears to stem from a heated 2026 Africa Cup of Nations final where Senegal temporarily walked off the pitch to protest VAR calls.

Although Senegal eventually won that final, they were later stripped of the title, with the trophy awarded to Morocco, a decision currently being challenged at the Court of Arbitration for Sport. This latest social media jab highlights the ongoing bitterness between the two nations. While Senegal exits the World Cup, Morocco moves on to the Round of 16 after a penalty shootout victory over the Netherlands.
