Chelsea has reportedly opted against pursuing Arsenal forward Ethan Nwaneri and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall during the current transfer window. These links emerged as Xabi Alonso prepares to begin his inaugural season as head coach. Alonso, appointed last month to succeed Liam Rosenior, will officially start his tenure on July 1.
While Chelsea has been associated with various transfer targets since the window opened, the club has yet to finalize any new signings. Despite ongoing speculation regarding their squad composition, a report from the Daily Mail indicates that neither Nwaneri nor Bergvall is currently on the club’s recruitment list. Nwaneri recently completed a loan spell at Marseille, while Bergvall featured in 33 matches for Spurs last season.
Although there have been rumors suggesting Bergvall is interested in a move away from Tottenham, he continues to draw attention from several clubs across Europe and the Premier League. Meanwhile, Nwaneri is taking a break following his involvement with the England squad during their stateside training camp.
