Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, has authorized a sweeping reorganization of senior personnel, designating new leaders for the 3rd and 6th Divisions as well as the Army Headquarters Garrison. Col. Appolonia Anele, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, noted that these changes are designed to boost operational efficiency and strengthen national security amid evolving challenges.
Key assignments include Major General WM Dangana taking charge of 3 Division and Operation Enduring Peace, while Major General EI Okoro assumes command of 6 Division and Operation Delta Safe. Major General JR Lar now leads the Army Headquarters Garrison, and Brigadier General OM Oyekola has been named the Acting Military Secretary. Additionally, Brigadier General I Waziri continues in his current role as Chief of Staff to the COAS.
Further strategic placements involve Brigadier General IB Buhari as Commander of 63 Brigade and Brigadier General K Rabiu leading the 31 Artillery Brigade. Major General SA Emmanuel has been tapped to head the Nigerian Army Space Command, highlighting an increased focus on technological warfare. Major General O Adegbe shifts to the Defence Headquarters as Director of Intelligence and Security.
Educational and institutional leadership saw Major General KE Chigbu appointed Deputy Commandant of the National Defence College, with Major General SD Makolo taking over the Nigerian Army Armour School. Major General SO Adejimi will lead the School of Supply and Transport, Major General FS Etim becomes the Chief of Training at TRADOC NA, and Brigadier General U Ahmad takes charge of the Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria.
Administrative roles were also updated, with Major General KO Ukandu becoming Managing Director of Post Housing Development Limited and Major General AI Allison leading Defence Properties Limited. The Chief of Army Staff urged all appointees to exhibit high levels of professional integrity and dedication in upholding the military’s constitutional duties.
