Ossai Ovie Success, a media assistant to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has publicly criticized social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as Verydarkman (VDM). This criticism follows VDM’s recent statements regarding an investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Ovie claims that VDM is attempting to distort the facts regarding his legal troubles. According to the governor’s aide, the influencer is currently under investigation for various serious offenses, including money laundering, terrorism financing, tax evasion, and unauthorized fundraising. Ovie suggested that VDM is proactively seeking public sympathy by framing these legal issues as political persecution stemming from his recent anti-government protests in Abuja and Oyo State.
Conversely, VDM has publicly alleged that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are pressuring the anti-graft agency to target him. He contends that these political figures are trying to silence him because they were unsettled by the significant turnout at his recent demonstrations. VDM claims his critics are falsely characterizing his organized protests as evidence of illicit foreign sponsorship or support for terrorism.
However, Ovie maintains that VDM was already aware of the EFCC investigation before returning to Nigeria. The aide dismissed VDM’s narrative as a calculated tactic, describing him as a sophisticated manipulator who understands how to exploit social media dynamics to his advantage.
