The Nigerian Army Armour School in Bauchi has unveiled Exercise Thunder Strike 2026, an initiative designed to enhance the operational proficiency of its troops. Major Adekunle Adeyemi, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, confirmed that a firepower demonstration for Nigerian Defence Academy cadets is scheduled for June 25, 2026, at the Victor Kure Armour Range on the Bauchi–Jos Road.
The comprehensive training drills are set to run from June 29 through July 2, 2026, primarily within the Alkaleri Local Government Area and surrounding regions. On June 25, activity will be concentrated near Zaranda Hill and Geji Village. The wider field operations will encompass Bara in Gombe State, Bashar and Dengi in Plateau State, Karim and Muri in Taraba State, and various sites near Alkaleri in Bauchi State.
The public should anticipate elevated activity involving military personnel, armoured vehicles, and aircraft. The military has requested that residents, especially those working as farmers or herders, remain calm if they hear gunfire. Safety protocols are in effect, and civilians are encouraged to avoid the specific training zones. The operation will conclude on July 2 with a live-fire demonstration involving Armoured Fighting Vehicles, with the Army requesting media support to ensure public cooperation.
