DIG Adegoke Fayoade Promises Impending Rescue of Oyo Abductees

DIG Adegoke Fayoade reassures the public of the imminent rescue of kidnapped students and teachers in Oyo State while outlining a modernization strategy for the Nigeria Police Force.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Adegoke Fayoade has stated that authorities are working intensely to ensure the safe recovery of schoolchildren and teachers kidnapped in Oyo State. During a visit to the Lagos Police Command, Fayoade emphasized that security agencies are focused on rescue operations rather than ransom negotiations.

Addressing the broader security landscape, the DIG highlighted plans to bolster the police force by increasing recruitment, improving officer welfare, and integrating advanced technology. He noted that the national force is developing data centers and incorporating artificial intelligence to modernize investigations and intelligence gathering.

Fayoade also encouraged police officers to maintain professional conduct and respect for citizens’ rights while urging the public to cooperate with law enforcement. He directed the Lagos State Command to improve its public reporting, ensuring that daily operational successes are clearly communicated to residents.

Lagos Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai reported a notable decrease in major crimes such as kidnapping and armed robbery, attributing this success to intelligence-led strategies and support from stakeholders. Fatai noted that while the command has achieved significant results in arrests and weapons recovery, it has also suffered the loss of seven officers during recent operations.
