22-Year-Old Man Stabs Mother to Death in Bayelsa
A 22-year-old man, identified as Godwin, has allegedly stabbed his mother to death in the Elebele community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. Reports suggest that the suspect killed his mother due to claims that she had been hindering his destiny and wealth.
Godwin had recently returned to the community after spending several months in Benin City, Edo State. Some residents of Elebele shared that a pastor had previously warned the mother not to accept any gifts from her son, as it was seen as a potential danger.
Others reported that Godwin had returned with unusual behavior, stating that a spiritual figure, referred to as “Baba,” had informed him that his wealth and destiny were being held back by his mother.
The Youth President of Elebele, Comrade Precious Okala, confirmed the tragic incident. Upon arriving at the scene, the youths found the mother’s body covered in blood, while Godwin was apprehended and restrained by community members.
“We were told that since the boy came back from Benin City, Edo State, he has been behaving in a strange manner. On the fateful day, he was reported to have had a struggle with the mother and stabbed her with a knife in the stomach,” she said.
“The boy was heard saying that one “Baba” had told him that the mother is in possession of his destiny and wealth”.
The State Police Command’s spokesman, ASP Musa Mohammed, confirmed the incident, stating that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation.
