Zamfara ADC Maintains Federal High Court Ruling Stands Firm

The Zamfara ADC asserts that a 2026 Federal High Court judgment remains in effect, rejecting claims against the current leadership elected through a legitimate party congress.

The Zamfara State branch of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) continues to assert that the April 29, 2026, Federal High Court ruling is still effective and must be honored unless overturned by a superior tribunal. Abdulkareem Umar, the party’s publicity secretary, released a statement in Gusau rejecting recent challenges against the court order and the state’s current leadership.

The party clarified that although Senator David Mark filed an appeal and sought a stay of execution, the request for a stay was denied. A date for the appellate hearing has been established. The statement emphasized that legal mandates remain binding until a higher court dictates a different outcome, noting that parties cannot unilaterally ignore or void these rulings.

Furthermore, the ADC highlighted the legal distinction between lodging an appeal and obtaining a stay of execution, warning that repetitive filings might be viewed as an abuse of the judicial system. Regarding the state party structure, the ADC affirmed that Alhaji Kabiru Garba Gusau and the current State Executive Committee were elected through a legitimate state congress. Their tenure is set to conclude on April 12, 2031, with their authority derived directly from this constitutional congress rather than an interim committee.
