Young boy pledges to enlist in Nigerian Army after bandits murder his father

A young boy from Zamfara State has shared his determination to join the Nigerian Army to seek justice after witnessing the brutal murder of his father by bandits.

A child named Umar from Magami, located in the Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State, has declared his intention to join the Nigerian military to avenge his father, who was murdered by suspected bandits. The story surfaced on Tuesday through a video posted to X by Bakatsine, a journalist covering regional security issues.

During the recorded interview, conducted in Hausa, the boy detailed the traumatic events. He explained that his father had just harvested seven baskets of red peppers and sold them to buy groceries, including rice, for their family. While returning from the farm to prepare a shared meal, he was intercepted and killed.

Umar stated that after the murder, the perpetrators raided their home and harmed other family members. Driven by these events, the boy expressed a firm resolve to pursue a career as a soldier to seek retribution against the assailants while praying for his father’s soul.
