Yola Magistrate Court penalizes Adamawa ADC gubernatorial candidate ₦3 million for illegal poster placement

A Magistrate Court in Yola has imposed a ₦3 million fine on ADC gubernatorial candidate Engr. Omar Suleiman for violating environmental regulations through the unauthorized placement of campaign posters.

A Magistrate Court in Yola has ordered Engr. Omar Suleiman, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial candidate for Adamawa State, to pay a ₦3 million fine. The penalty was issued after Suleiman was found responsible for placing campaign posters on public property, which violated local environmental laws.

Presiding Magistrate Musa Adamu determined that the infraction was administrative rather than criminal. The case, initially brought forward as a criminal matter, was reclassified by the court during the proceedings. In addition to the fine, the court ordered Suleiman to instruct his campaign team and supporters to refrain from affixing posters to public infrastructure, citing the Executive Order established by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

The defense counsel, Barrister Bals Sanga, expressed satisfaction with the verdict, noting that it validated their argument regarding the administrative nature of the violation. Professor Jeffery Baminian, speaking on behalf of the Omarrana Campaign Organisation, also praised the court for delivering a fair and balanced resolution to the issue.
