Yobe State Police officials have successfully captured a major drug distributor and a prominent kidnapping suspect during separate operations. SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the police spokesperson, confirmed these developments on Saturday.
On July 17, 2026, officers from the Yindiski Divisional Headquarters in Potiskum executed a search at a warehouse allegedly owned by 35-year-old Alhaji Abbas from Danchuwa Village. The raid resulted in the seizure of eight cartons of drugs, large quantities of Tramadol and Exzol, and approximately N835,500 in cash believed to be illicit profit. Despite physical opposition from gang members that left some officers with minor injuries, police secured the scene and transferred the wounded to a medical facility.
In a distinct case, the Potiskum Area Command detained Saidu Mohammed, a 40-year-old man from Bauchi State linked to armed robbery and kidnapping. The arrest followed a July 11 complaint regarding a N10 million extortion attempt. Using specialized investigative techniques, detectives tracked the suspect, who is believed to coordinate criminal activities across Yobe, Bauchi, and Gombe. Authorities are continuing their search for other members involved in these criminal networks.
