Authorities in Yobe state have taken five individuals into custody regarding various criminal allegations, including fraudulent activity, transformer damage, and physical assault. SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the police spokesperson, confirmed these developments in a Thursday press release.
On August 6, police in Damaturu detained 26-year-old Mohammed Sani and 25-year-old Ali Isa Waziri. The pair allegedly used impersonation to deceive a local merchant, successfully obtaining pasta and rice under false pretenses. Authorities recovered the goods and are preparing the case for court.
In a separate event, a community transformer in Fika was targeted by thieves who stripped it of its power cable. Local residents and security volunteers assisted the Fika Police Division in capturing 23-year-old Ibrahim Musa, who was found in possession of the cable. Two additional suspects linked to this vandalism were subsequently apprehended.
Lastly, the Tarmuwa division is looking into a violent confrontation where a 22-year-old man allegedly used a bow and arrow to injure another person. The assailant accused the victim of having an affair with his wife near her family home. The injured party is recovering at a police facility in Damaturu, and the suspect remains in custody.
